Refund payments

Learn what is a refund and how it works.

Refund occurs when the merchant sends funds back to the customer. Some of the examples of refund are:

  • customer returns part of the order or the full order,
  • you need to compensate for the delivered goods or services.

Refunds are always initiated by the merchant and refer to a previous transaction (charge or shipment). Several partial refunds are possible. You can refund up to the initially charged amount.

All payment methods except Giropay support refunds.

Refunds are realized by using the cancel API call for the transaction, on the initial payment - the charge transaction.
