Refund payments
Learn what a refund is and how it works.
Refund occurs when the merchant sends funds back to the customer. Some of the examples of refund are:
- the customer returns some items from the order or the full order.
- you need to compensate for the goods or services that were delivered.
Refunds are always initiated by the merchant and refer to a previous transaction (charge or shipment). You can have multiple partial refunds up to the initially charged amount.
All payment methods except [Deprecated] Giropay support refunds.
Refunds are realized by using the cancel
API call for the transaction, on the initial payment—the charge
transaction.
